clutch lubrication

A car clutch is a dry clutch (no oil). But lubrication is needed! The clutch plate slides back and forward on the gearbox input shaft. If the engine delivers power to the clutch plate, the plate pushes to the toothed part of the input shaft. A to hard push kan result in an no longer sliding clutch plate what cause serious troubles.
Another place needed lubrication is het release fork. elimination of undiserable friction forces.

3D drawing assembly clutch

A complete assembly of the clutch.
Compare this one with the simplified one. You will see that the major construction is the same.

place

The place is important for the intern structure. The basic principles will be the same.

simple clutch assembly

This is a very simplified view of an clutch assemblie. Only the most important part, necessary for the operation. (usefull for operation-understanding)
Further on there will be a more realistic assembly.

assembly pressure plate

A diaphragm spring is used because they become stiffer if they wear.
Ohter (coil) springs do the oppisite, they become weaker en weaker. This results in a slipping clutch.

Studs keeps the diapragm spring in place. But allows also a little movement in radial direction.

how does it work?
